Questions and answers

12 of them, all things the workshop actually gets asked. If yours is not here, ask and we will add it.

Ordering

How long does an order take?

Cutting and edging on stocked board is usually same day or next working day. CNC work and PVC wrapped doors take five to seven working days because they are made to your sizes.

You get a promised date on the order, and it changes on your order page if anything moves.

Can I track my order?

Yes. Every order gets a number and a short tracking code. Enter either on the track page, or open the order in your account to see where it is in the shop.

The stages are the real ones: confirmed, in production, ready, out for delivery.

Cut-lists

How do I send you a cut-list?

Use the cut-list button in the header. Type the panels in, or paste a CSV if you already have a schedule from a drawing. Length, width, quantity and which edges need banding is all we need.

You get a price back with the board, the cutting and the edging broken out separately, so you can see what each part costs. Nothing is cut until you approve it.

Cutting and edging

What tolerance do you cut to?

Plus or minus 1mm on the beam saw, squared on both axes. That is tight enough that a run of carcasses lines up on site without shimming.

If a job needs closer than that, say so when you send the list and we will tell you honestly whether we can hold it.

Can you cut boards I already have?

Yes. Choose "Client supplied" as the material on your cut-list and you are charged for labour only.

Bring the boards flat and dry. A board that has been leaning against a wall for a month has a bow in it, and a bowed board cannot be cut square no matter what the saw does.

Paying

How do I pay?

M-Pesa to our Paybill, using your order number as the account number. The number is shown on your order once it is placed, and again in your account.

Bank transfer and cash on collection also work. Nothing is charged when you place the order: we confirm stock first, then you pay.

Delivery and collection

Do you deliver, and what does it cost?

Yes, across Nairobi and the surrounding counties. The fee depends on your town and is worked out at checkout before you commit, not added afterwards.

Collection from the workshop in Industrial Area is free. Panels are heavy: a full sheet of 18mm MDF is about 40kg, so bring help or a pickup.

Products and boards

Why are boards not priced on the site?

Because a board is priced per sheet by thickness and finish, and almost nobody buys a whole uncut sheet. Putting a sheet price on the page would mean quoting you for something you do not want.

Send the panel sizes instead and the price you get back covers the board, the cutting and the edging together.

Fitting and installation

Do you install, or only supply?

Both. We fit kitchens, wardrobes and office partitioning ourselves, and we supply machine-cut panels to contractors who fit their own.

Fitting starts with a measure-up on your floor rather than off a plan, because the alcove that is built is rarely the alcove that was drawn.

Your account

Do I need an account to order?

Yes, for anything going through checkout. It is how your order, your delivery address and your payment reference stay in one place, and how you track progress without phoning.

A quote on a cut-list needs no account. Neither does asking a question.

If something is wrong

What happens if a panel is cut wrong?

If we cut it wrong against the list you approved, we re-cut it at our cost. Bring it back with the order number.

If the list itself was wrong, we will re-cut at material and labour cost. Check your figures before approving: that is the moment where a mistake is still free.

The workshop

Where are you, and when are you open?

Industrial Area, Nairobi. Monday to Friday 8:00 to 17:30, Saturday 8:00 to 13:00, closed Sunday and public holidays.

Call before coming for a collection so the panels are stacked and waiting rather than still on the saw.

Still not answered?

Send the panel sizes and we will price them, or just ask. Somebody who cuts boards will reply, not a form.
